Arc 2 BeginsArc 2 of the Stormlight Archive opens a new 5-book sequence with a significant time jump. Sanderson has confirmed Arc 2 is next on his priority list after completing Arc 1 with Wind and Truth (2024). 2027 is the earliest realistic publication date; 2028 is also possible. The most anticipated epic fantasy release in the pipeline.
Red God — Pierce Brown
Series FinaleThe seventh and final Red Rising novel concludes Darrow's saga. Brown has been working on it since Light Bringer (2023). If it doesn't land in 2026, 2027 is the expected window. The most-anticipated sci-fi finale among genre readers.
The Winds of Winter — George R.R. Martin

Doors of Stone — Patrick Rothfuss

Empyrean Book 4 or 5 — Rebecca Yarros
Ongoing SeriesYarros publishes annually. Whatever Empyrean book hasn't landed in 2026 will almost certainly come in 2027. The dragon-riding war-college saga has been the defining romantasy series of the 2020s and shows no signs of slowing commercially.
The Thursday Murder Club #7 — Richard Osman
Annual SeriesOsman publishes a Thursday Murder Club book annually. By 2027 the series will have 6–7 entries. The most reliable cozy mystery series in British publishing — every book has been a bestseller. Exactly what it promises, consistently.
Blood and Ash next entry — Jennifer L. Armentrout
OngoingJLA's Blood and Ash world continues expanding across multiple connected series. By 2027, additional entries in the main series or connected storylines are expected. Check her official announcement channels for confirmed titles.
Literary Fiction Wishlist for 2027
These authors publish irregularly but readers watch their announcements closely:
Last published 2013 (The Goldfinch). Her decade-long gaps are expected. A 2027 announcement would be 14 years — consistent with her pattern.
Published Klara and the Sun in 2021. Nobel laureates tend to publish on their own schedule — but a new book by 2027 is plausible.
Published Intermezzo in 2024. Rooney writes roughly every 2–3 years; a 2027 novel would be exactly on schedule.
The most prolific serious writer in American literature. He publishes frequently — a 2027 book is near-certain. Whether it will match James is the question.
