Rick Riordan is the bestselling author of the Percy Jackson series and the creator of the Camp Half-Blood universe. Born in 1964 in San Antonio, Texas, he was a middle school teacher who invented the Percy Jackson stories to engage his son who had ADHD and dyslexia. The Lightning Thief was published in 2005 and became a global phenomenon.
